BONHATA AWARD FOR JERRY

At Bonaire Dive & Adventure we all know that Jerry Ligon is special. Not only because he has worked forever for Andre, but because he is a ‘mister know it all’ in the best sense of that word. He really knows all about nature on Bonaire and he is always willing to share his knowledge. Jerry teaches us enthusiastically, and that is why BDA dive masters know more than average about marine life. And for those who are interested, Jerry also teaches about Bonaire nature on land.

Jerry has one big flaw: he finds it very hard to accept compliments. He does not like the celebrity status he deserves, and he will do everything to avoid it. But he is getting it anyway, not only with the many guests that enjoy his easygoing way of teaching, but also with the board of the Bonaire Hotel Association Bonhata.

Jerry was awarded for his contribution to the Bonaire tourist industry for his many publications, for his work as an underwater naturalist, professional bird watcher and biologist.

Of course we had to rope him first, and drag him to the award ceremony, but we managed to get him there. He was even willing to show his award to the camera!
