Safety first at Bonaire Dive & Adventure!

Nitrox for free!

There is one aspect of diving most divers usually do not want to think about. Diving is pretty safe when everybody sticks to the rules. It gets even safer when divers use the extra safety that diving NITROX offers. But sometimes people get carried away by the beauty of the reef and make mistakes; the result is the risk of Decompression Illness and the necessity of medical treatment. For those unfortunate divers, there is a Hyperbaric Chamber on Bonaire.

Seven Bonaire Dive & Adventure instructors and dive masters are now qualified to operate this chamber. Supervisor Ronald Simonis (one of the supervisors of the chamber and specialist on generators) taught the 10-week course about Decompression Illness and how to operate the chamber during the treatment of divers.

This is another example of how BD&A enhances safety in diving. "As a part of the course we had to experience ourselves what it is like to be inside the chamber, " one of the instructors said, "and you know what? I will make sure I never need to be treated in that claustrophobic small cylinder." After this course Bonaire Dive & Adventure staff has an extra incentive to be safety conscious on their job. They are very happy to dive extra safe with NITROX in accordance with the BD&A FREE NITROX offer.
